We intend this code system to only be a guide. For information on the applicability of installation of any part in an aircraft, please contact your local FAA office. We are not attempting to interpret FAA regulation, but we would like to assist in making the correct decisions regarding purchases. We have instituted an internal code system for the items which we manufacture and/or sell. Each item of this publication contains a code which corresponds to the following table of information. The information given is to the best of our knowledge, and is subject to change without notice. For further information on a specific product, please call our Customer Service Representatives at 1-800-558-6868. Definition, Origin, and/or FAA Approval Status of Item, Service or Part Codes 1, 2, 3 These items are either manufactured by or supplied to the Wag-Aero Group, and do not presently carry an FAA/ PMA, TSO, and/or STC, but approval has been applied for with the FAA according to Federal Register Vol. 60, No. 38, 2/ 27/95. These items are offered for sale only for experimental category aircraft. If the intent is to use these parts for anything other than experimental category aircraft, you must check with your local FAA office or the installing licensed mechanic in advance. Code 4 These items are FAA/PMA’d, TSO’d and/or STC’d or are produced under a TC; or are overhauls by an FAA certified repair facility. The holder of the Approval may be either the Wag-Aero Group or an outside vendor. Code 5 These items meet AN, MS, NAS or other Military Specifications or may be identified as Standard Parts as defined by the FAA. FAA definition of Standard Parts: A part manufactured in conformance with a specification established, published and maintained by a consensus standards organization, a government agency or a holder of an FAA Type Certificate (TC). The specification includes design manufacturing, and test and acceptance criteria, and identification requirements. Code 6 These items became available in the general aviation marketplace, either through military bidding, or as overruns from the original equipment manufacturer or supplier. Some items may be marked with original OEM part number, but none of the parts are supported by complete written traceability. Therefore, these items are ideal for experimental category aircraft. If the intent is to use these parts for anything other than experimental category aircraft, you must check with your local FAA office or the installing licensed mechanic in advance. Code 7 It is generally assumed that these items are non-aircraft parts, that is, they are not permanently installed onto an aircraft. Code 8 To our knowledge, these items do not carry an FAA/PMA, TSO, and/or STC, and no application is in process. These products are offered for sale only for experimental category aircraft. Code 9 The manufacturers of these items advise that FAA acceptance of these items has been received, or that the FAA has advised that a PMA, TSO, and/or STC may not be necessary for these items for certain Part 91 aircraft. Check with your local FAA office or a licensed mechanic.
